What Lengths are you Willing to Go to to Change?

Oprah Winfrey wrote:

“Reaching your potential as a human being is more than an ideal. It’s the ultimate goal. The wonders we’re capable of have nothing to do with the measurement of mankind, the list of what’s in and what’s out, who’s hot and who’s not. I’m talking about the real deal: Whose life did you touch? Who did you love, and who loved you back? This I know for sure is what matters. For me it’s the only goal worth aiming for: a transformation of consciousness that allows me to know that I am no better or worse than any other being. That I simply am.”

Jim Bouchard in his book “Think Like a Black Belt” talks about:

Setting large, clear goals. Plenty of people with goals set out with the best intentions only to crash and burn or just fade away.

Some real secrets to accomplishing your goals:

* Your biggest goals should reflect your passion.
* Be sure you’ve got the material, emotional and spiritual resources you need to sustain your efforts. If not, adjust your immediate goals to fit your current resources.
* Divide your big goal into a series of progressive, attainable steps.
* Get tough enough so you won’t let inevitable set-backs and failures defeat you. This is “discipline.”
* Commit yourself to continual self-perfection.
* Begin…

From the book “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein:

“Such a simple concept, yet so true: that which we manifest is before us; we are the creators of our own destiny. Be it through intention or ignorance, our successes and failure have been brought on by none other than ourselves.”
