WRITING A NEW LIFE STORY
Tony Robbins talks about divorcing from “your story.” We all have a story. Why we fail, why we can’t do something, why we’re not enough, why such and such never works out for us. What’s YOUR story? And whatever it is - how’s it working for you? When you figure out and admit what your story has been (also known as your belief system about what you can and can’t create), you can decide to divorce it. That’s a good divorce to have. Don’t allow a story of failure and all the why-I cant’s to run your life any longer; don’t give it another ounce of energy or attention. You can actually create a new story, and develop it.
I had an ah-ha moment myself when I met with a high-end entertainment gentleman who can take my show to its next level. We had a great meeting but right at the end I had a clenching inside. Everything was going exactly as my life plan desired it to be and –oops- my story of fear kicked-in. What if I’m not capable? What if I meet the money people and I am quiet, no personality and they don’t get me? What if we work really hard on all of this and it never happens? Here I am living out the the next step in the evolution of where I am going, everything is literally going terrific for hours and then…The Story rears its head.
I never will lay down my dreams and goals to be victim to anything other than the success I have worked hard to attain and what I have thus far created. I believe I deserve to add positive momentum to my career, therefore I recognized what was happening in the moment. I know what fear looks like when it wants to take over. I have way too much to offer and way too much to do on this planet to let fear or any aberrant lie run my life’s show.
Conversely I know what I feel like when I’m in charge and doing what I do best, in my element in entertainment – and when I’m there, I’d call myself “Powerful Debbi.” Powerful Debbi is in charge and will get the job done, she has fun and is confident and knows she can do it, just move out of her way and let her do her thing. From that space it was clear which part of me needed to proceed with the business and development meetings. Powerful Debbi needs to 100% be present, shift into gear and be The Story operating at these meetings and in all upcoming opportunities. The rest is bull, because fear is just a story.
Anytime we create a new alter ego or story about ourselves – one that works for us – is actually an element that is already living within us, we’re just expanding upon it and stepping into that aspect of ourselves completely. Then we can develop a new, positive story about who we are and what we can do. And from our new story, the person who shows up will tell us with confidence: “You can. You know you can. I know you can. Now go rock this!” The only real solution to fear is action, it is moving away from the realm that is trying to hold you back and moving forward.
If fear comes up don’t buy into it, instead move physically and mentally into your greatest, commanding persona. Embody and be that instead. If demeaning thoughts and ideas dare to intrude on your life tell it “Get behind me doubt (or fear). I am here to do God’s work.” Roll away stones of fear and worry. Open to your temple of power.
There is something in you of greatness - you took human form to stand in the imprint of Source, All That Is and the divine template. Let your light so shine. Your heart, compassion, patience, creativity are all a connection to the presence of god. Who you are and what you’re here to do is the real deal. You are participating in your own evolution. Go into your inner desert and fast from your tainted fearful thoughts. You walk in the world but you are of the luminous, joyful light. Let yourself surrender to all that comes. Bring it on. You are here for good. Call forth that new story where you are vast, important and have magnitude in how you move and have your being. Live your life and your dreams and goals from that new story.

This is how expanding, even hearing, a new story can be. The entertainment person I met with shared a real demonstration with me – he is successful and has always created what he wants, which is due to the story he tells himself about who he is and what he believes is possible. He was friends with a record guy who worked in management for a well-known record company. Once day his friend was fired from his job and was very bummed, so his two buddies took him out to lunch and they talked about it. The man who’d been fired from his prestigious job had no idea where he could work next, or what his life now would be like. And while he was in THAT story, feeling badly for himself, his friend, the man I was in a meeting with, looked at him and said: You will buy your own record company and you’ll run it, that’s what you’ll do. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine having a vision and a story that big and real? His vision was “Of course that’s doable and now you’ll be your own boss and an entrepreneur and no one can fire you again.” And that’s exactly what happened. The man, who’d just been fired, started his own record company, which is still successful to this day.
